Mentoring
Based in Devon, I provide mentoring services for individual, both face to face and by telephone.
What is it?
“Mentoring is help from one person to another in making significant transitions in knowledge, work or thinking” (David Clutterbuck, Techniques for Coaching and Mentoring)
From time to time we can be thrown 'off course' by any number of external events. We can find ourselves unsure, we can lose our confidence and feel 'stuck'. Our thoughts and feelings may hinder us and can even blind us to our talents and internal resources.
Mentoring helps individuals to move forward with renewed clarity and enthusiasm. It helps people to navigate themselves out of the fog.
“thank you for the things that came out of this which I didn't know I was going to say"
(SN, Exeter)
Mentoring can address needs to:
- motivate self and others
- handle change
- prepare for transition
- improve skills
- resolve conflict
Benefits include:
- a renewed sense of direction
- greater clarity with specific issues affecting performance and well-being
- increased confidence, motivation and engagement
- a rediscovery of talent and potential
- an expanded ability to manage and motivate others
The process:
- is an impartial and confidential relationship
- puts individuals 'at the helm'
- is supportive yet challenging
- generates personal responsibility
- draws on existing skills/strengths
- works on underlying beliefs and limiting assumptions
Mentoring facilitates potential for growth and development to reveal itself - the art of development.
"We need to close our eyes for a while and listen. There is always something unheard of in the air" (Karlheinz Stockhausen, composer)
"The painting has a life of its own - I try to let it come through" (Jackson Pollock, artist)
